OUR PHILOSOPHY
We are the only Charleston business, profit or non-profit, that is committed to deconstruction. We want to reach those people in the community that might not get the help they need through larger organizations. If you value using recycled building materials, we would love to meet you. It truly is our passion. The Sustainable Warehouse’s goal is to prevent usable building materials from ending up in the landfill.

OUR EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR
Rebecca O’Brien, our fearless leader and founding chair, has been interested in deconstruction for over 15 years. Five years ago she became the first woman on the East Coast to be certified. She began The Sustainable Warehouse in 2004 as a response to the need she saw in the community for an organization which would allow her to keep more waste out of dumpsters, and therefore out of landfills. This, in effect, reduces Charleston’s carbon footprint!
